How to Choose the Right Flooring for a Busy Sacramento Home
Choosing new flooring is one of the most permanent decisions you'll make for your home. Unlike paint or furniture, floors are expensive to replace early — so getting it right the first time matters. For Sacramento-area homeowners, that means thinking about foot traffic, kids and pets, sunlight and heat, moisture in kitchens and bathrooms, and how long you plan to stay in the home.
Start with how the room actually gets used
High-traffic rooms like entryways, kitchens, and open-plan living areas need materials that can take daily punishment. Luxury vinyl plank (LVP) and laminate are both excellent here — scratch-resistant, easy to clean, and waterproof in the case of LVP. Hardwood is beautiful but needs more care and is better suited to lower-traffic areas or homes without large pets. Carpet works well in bedrooms and home offices where comfort matters more than durability.
Think about Sacramento's heat and dry air

Photos online and even in-store displays can be misleading. Colors shift in different light, and texture is something you genuinely need to feel. - Bedroom or home office comfort — carpet
